The richest city of Mexico, Monterry, has recently become a drug war zone. Once a symbol of economic power in Mexico, this city is now the battlefield of frequent drug-related shootings and fights. According to Juan Ernesto Sandoval, the head of Monterry's commerce, "The violence is now impacting the economy. Supermarket projects and jewelry stores are just two areas of frozen investment. Unfortunately even the richest and most economically stable area is not necessarily the safest in Mexico. Hopefully this drug war will not continue for much longer in Monterrey.
